Climbing Mountains into Hell

2 Peter 3:9 says,
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

In the classic sermon "Climbing to Hell" by Herschel Ford, he describes a person going through great efforts to achieve Hell. This is in contrast to the popular belief that people try not to go. I'd like to expound upon this in my blog.

According to the passage of scripture above we can see that it is not God's intent that any should ever go to such a place as Hell. He is longsuffering (patient) toward us. He wants us to come to repentance - such an easy thing to do really...

You are to confess your sins to God (who already knows them anyway) and turn around your life to live for Him instead of continuing in your sin. This should be easy! Why then do we see such struggle? Because people prefer sin over God - simply put.

There is every reason you should be a Christian and not one valid reason a person should want to be a sinner who refuses the grace that God offers us. God went through great lengths to keep you out of Hell. The devil wants you to believe there is no hope, but the devil is a liar.

There is hope in Jesus Christ, and this is a hope that you can pass down and share to your children and to your children's children, and onto many generations. You can leave a legacy and transform your entire generation by the decision you make now - to live for Christ!

Going to Heaven is such an easy thing to do, yet people prefer to go their own way instead.

Proverbs 14:12 says,
There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

Man will not accidentally fall into Hell one day. In fact he (or she) will climb many mountains to get there!  There is the mountain of the Church. You will climb over evangelically sound Church there is to get to Hell. There is a Church on nearly every corner of the USA, but also many more around the world. Most all of them are preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ that saves you from Hell.

There is the mountain of Gospel Sermons that are on the radio, on the TV, and on the internet in podcasts - all that you will have to climb over to get into Hell.

There is a mountain of Bibles that you will have to climb over before you drop into the pit of Hell. There are several versions of bibles in every Walmart around the world, but also in Christian bookstores, and also millions of them online. Most any Church will also give you one if you couldn't afford one, but the sad truth is they can't hardly be given away. People prefer the darkness, and they are climbing into Hell.

There is the mountain of your conscience that you must climb over to get into Hell. God has given us this to go off like an alarm inside our head when we do something wrong. Each person's better judgment tells them they should come to Christ. Sadly though, they will prefer instead to climb over this mountain and fall into Hell.

There are your loving parents, grandparents, and other family members that are already saved. They have built a mountain of prayers for your soul. If you choose to go to Hell, then you will have to climb over this mountain made of loving prayers that have been offer up to God on your behalf.

God uses everything in life to bring us to Him. In this life we go through many sorrows and much pain. All of this is intended to show us how much we need Him. If you go to Hell you will have to scale over the mountain of pain and suffering this life provides you, but instead of embracing Jesus - you will reject Him.

Today the Holy Spirit stands between you and Hell. You must climb over a mountain of all His wooings and pleadings before you can go to Hell.

Finally, there is the mountain of Calvary that you will climb over to get to Hell. On top of this mountain is Jesus. He is looking down at you from YOUR cross as He died for YOUR sins. He looks down at you with compassion and love as He says, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matt 11:28).... He also says to you, All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. (John 6:37).

This is your final mountain. You have traveled far and climbed many mountains to get to your final destination - Hell. This mountain is the easiest to get over... in fact it's just a hill. Let's see, you've climbed the mountain of the Church, the Gospel, the Bible, your conscience, your praying family, a mountain of life's pain, the Holy Spirit, and finally now... one last mountain... the mountain of Calvary. Will you stop at the foot of the cross and fall to your knees and conclude a journey into Heaven?

Or will you reject the Son of God who hangs in anguish for you, then walk down the easy slope continuing your journey into the flames of Hell?

I'll conclude:
Living for Christ and going to Heaven is such an easy thing to do. The bible tells us that who the Son sets free is free indeed.

If you decide to not live for Jesus Christ and reject Him, one day you will find yourself  lifting up your eyes in Hell as the flames lick around your body and there is gnashing of teeth, you will not only have this pain to feel, but you will have the pain of remembering the many mountains you had to climb over to get there, while all along Jesus was so easy a decision to make and Heaven was so easy a choice.

All over Facebook and everywhere else I see people climbing over these mountains. To them I say THERE IS HOPE!

To them I say, please don't go over that final mountain - the mountain of Calvary. If you do then you have trample Jesus under your feet. Instead, stop at the top of the mountain and fall before Him. He is there because He loves you and He has been waiting for you.

God Bless!
